Does insurance cover the costs of TMJ/TMD treatment?
A: Every insurance plan is different in terms of what they will cover or not. Dr. Mistry has found that the vast majority of insurance plans do NOT cover TMJ treatment. TMJ issues are truly a medical issue, and it is Dr. Mistry’s opinion that medical insurance should cover it. However, we have found that neither dental nor medical insurance offer great coverage for TMJ/TMD treatment. To determine if your plan covers TMJ/TMD treatment, we advise that you contact your medical insurance plan administrator directly. Dr. Mistry’s office does supply Superbills, which allow you to try and bill your own medical insurance. Payment for your treatment is due at the time of service.
We know that trying to navigate the ever confusing health insurance system can cause enormous stress to patients. This is why Dr. Mistry cuts the middle man out and provides care direct to you. We recognize that the costs of care can be intimidating. If you are delaying treatment due to financial reasons, we encourage you to contact our office regarding options for financing your treatment. We offer flexible payment plans and financing options: We accept all major credit cards, FSA, HSA, Apple pay, cash, check and as well as CareCredit.
