Alesis OSA1: A New Approach to Sleep Apnea Treatment

Innovative, Non-Invasive Technology for Better Breathing and Better Sleep

At our office, we’re committed to exploring advanced technologies that help patients breathe better, sleep better, and improve their overall quality of life.

We’re excited to introduce our patients to Alesis OSA1, an innovative, non-invasive technology designed to address physical factors that can contribute to obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

Unlike traditional treatments that rely on wearing a device while sleeping, Alesis OSA1 uses targeted light-based technology to reduce localized fatty tissue that may contribute to airway obstruction.

For appropriate patients, this technology offers a promising new approach to managing sleep apnea without surgery or nightly equipment.

What Is Alesis OSA1?

Alesis OSA1 uses an advanced technology called photonic lipolysis, which delivers specialized light energy to targeted tissue.

Research has shown that excess fatty tissue around the tongue, neck, and upper airway can contribute to obstructive sleep apnea by narrowing the airway during sleep.

Alesis OSA1 is designed to reduce localized fatty tissue, potentially creating more space for airflow and reducing airway obstruction.

The treatment is performed in the office, requires no incisions or anesthesia, and involves no recovery period.  For best results, six 12-minute treatments are done over a two week span.

How Does Alesis OSA1 Work?

When we sleep, the muscles supporting our upper airway naturally relax. For patients with obstructive sleep apnea, this relaxation can cause the airway to become partially or completely blocked, interrupting normal breathing.

Excess tissue surrounding the airway can make these interruptions more likely.

Alesis OSA1 uses targeted photonic energy to stimulate a process that encourages fat cells to release stored lipids, reducing their volume.

By reducing localized fatty tissue, the treatment aims to improve the space available for airflow during sleep.  Clinical trials have shown that Alesis OSA 1 can reduce AHI from 50 to 80%!

Potential Benefits of Alesis OSA1

For patients who are appropriate candidates, Alesis OSA1 offers several potential advantages:

What Can I Expect During Treatment?

Alesis OSA1 is designed to make treatment convenient and straightforward.

The manufacturer’s treatment protocol typically consists of six short sessions over three weeks, with each session lasting approximately 12 minutes.

There are no incisions, no anesthesia, and no required recovery time.

Before recommending treatment, Dr. Mistry will evaluate your sleep apnea history, symptoms, and individual needs to determine whether this technology may be appropriate.

Follow-up sleep testing may be recommended to assess changes in breathing and sleep apnea severity.

Is Alesis OSA1 Right for Me?

Obstructive sleep apnea can have several contributing factors, including airway anatomy, muscle relaxation, jaw position, and excess tissue surrounding the airway.

Because every patient’s anatomy and symptoms are different, there is no single treatment that works for everyone.

Alesis OSA1 may be worth discussing if you:

  • Have been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea.
  • Struggle with CPAP comfort or consistency.
  • Are interested in learning about non-surgical treatment options.
  • Want to explore whether excess tissue may be contributing to your airway obstruction.
  • Are seeking a personalized approach to improving your sleep.

Dr. Mistry takes a comprehensive approach to sleep-related breathing concerns, considering how jaw position, airway health, and other factors may influence your sleep.

Alesis OSA1 adds another technology to the range of treatment options available for discussion.

Better Breathing Starts with Understanding Your Airway

Quality sleep is essential to your overall health. Untreated obstructive sleep apnea can contribute to daytime fatigue, poor concentration, disrupted sleep, and increased cardiovascular health risks.

At Dr. Priya Mistry’s office in Vancouver, Washington, we believe patients deserve individualized care informed by current technology and a thorough understanding of airway health.
